Official Town news still used on the updates trail.
Official developer posts run from the 9 April 2026 announcement through the 22 September launch and a same-day hotfix for pre-order bonus content. Combat, Town, zombies, visuals, and story each have a dedicated diary. This trail is that calendar. It is not a patch-note dump: two days after launch, live notes beyond the sauna hotfix were still thin. SteamDB's syndicated peak of 54,969 concurrent players is recorded as ecosystem news, not as a storefront spec. Read the trail top to bottom if you arrived from launch day; skip to the hotfix node if you only care whether a sauna spawned.
Date trailer
tinyBuild posted a dated trailer while the 22 September lock was still news. This page binds that official upload so the calendar has motion. The hub keeps the out-now launch trailer; the inquisitor page keeps the April announcement trailer. Click the facade to load youtube-nocookie. Nothing from YouTube runs until that click.
Read the trail below in order if you want prose next to the video. The date trailer does not replace the 22 September hotfix note. If you pre-ordered, skip to the last node after you watch, because that is the post that restored missing sauna and outfit content in some existing saves.
The date trailer is exclusive to this route in the media list. Do not look for it on the hub. If the facade fails to load, the Steam news hub link in Sources still opens the same calendar in prose.
Watch it once, then use the trail. The trailer is not a substitute for the hotfix sentence.
How to walk the trail
Ten dated Steam news posts are the dated series. Each node has a human-readable date, the official title, a short player-facing summary, and a Steam link. Previous/next relations in the news list are how the diaries chain; the trail already prints them in date order so you do not need a second widget.
Skip magazine syndications. The research capture dropped four non-developer bodies on purpose. If you want the CGMagazine PS5 review, it is a press link in the sealed sources, not a developer diary, and it does not belong as a node on this trail.
Each node is a developer body. The research capture skipped four syndicated magazine posts on purpose so this trail would not mix press with Lazy Bear Games and tinyBuild. If a future node is a hotfix, it should look like the 22 September sauna note: short, dated, and linked.
Dates on the trail are calendar days from Steam news, written as 9 April 2026 rather than as machine timestamps. The roster date is not printed here; the trail is a calendar, not a scrape log.
The launch-day pre-order hotfix
The 22 September hotfix is one sentence in Steam news and one important check in your save. Some existing files did not receive pre-order bonus content. The bonuses named around launch are a personal sauna outside the house and a Grand Inquisitor outfit. If you pre-ordered, opened the demo, then continued into 1.0, look for those two items before you assume a decoration is missing because of cemetery quality.
The demo page repeats the sauna check with the 3-4 hour trial facts. This trail only needs the date, the official title 'Hotfix - Pre-order bonus content,' and the instruction to read that post before hunting missing sauna geometry. Later hotfixes should gain new nodes instead of rewriting this one.
Pre-order language around launch is the only Steam list of those bonuses. Steam does not list extra cosmetic IDs Steam did not print. If the outfit or sauna is present, you do not need the hotfix. If they are missing after a demo-to-1.0 continue, the official post is the first thing to open, not a cemetery quality guide.
What each diary is for
Zombies: labour origin and the work-versus-bite split. Town: the gate, Old Mighty God, restoration. Visuals: dropping 2D compromises. Story: larger old world and less grind. Combat: biting zombies as a Town story. Those five diaries are why this wiki has five system hubs instead of one recap page.
The announcement, date lock, demo, out-now, and hotfix posts are the calendar spine. Read them if you care about when a thing became true. Read the diaries if you care why a route exists. The exclusive still on this page is a Town news plate; the date trailer is the exclusive video. Other official stills stay on their own guides.
Zombie labour details live on the automation page. Town restoration details live on The Town page. Combat details live on the army page. Story geography lives on the inquisitor page. This trail is the dated index that made those hubs necessary, not a second copy of their stills.
What is missing after launch
The trail omits a 1.0 balance patch exists if Steam has not posted one. The trail omits SteamDB charts beyond the syndicated peak note. The trail omits unofficial changelogs. When Lazy Bear Games or tinyBuild post another developer body for app 4358690, this trail should gain a node with a date and a Steam URL.
CGMagazine's PS5 review was syndicated through Steam news and is listed as press. Use it as press, not as a patch. Peak concurrent users are a launch-week ecosystem fact, not a reason to rewrite the graveyard guide. Keep player systems on the hubs and keep the trail as the dated spine.
If you need a storefront instead of a diary, the platforms table is the next route. If you need the trial facts, the demo page repeats length and save-carry without duplicating this entire trail. Keep one calendar, one trial page, and one spec table so launch week does not become three recaps of the same Steam post.
Announcing Graveyard Keeper 2
The 9 April wake-up letter names the sequel's pitch in one stack: machinery, zombie labour, an undead army, and rebuilding The Town for profit. tinyBuild's announcement trailer went up the same day.
Working zombies first appeared in DLC for the original game when the task list outgrew one keeper. The sequel puts that labour on the base-game floor and jokes about hands that never take a day off.
The Town was a rumour in the first game. This diary walks the gate, names the Old Mighty God founding era, and treats restoration as a street you can finally enter.
Dissecting the Art and Visuals of Graveyard Keeper 2
The art diary keeps the original's spirit and drops 2D pixel compromises for major technical visual changes. The stills on this wiki are that renderer, not a HUD overlay.
The dated launch post locks 22 September 2026 and repeats the rebuild, fortify, and defend loop. Pre-order language in the surrounding campaign is where the sauna and inquisitor outfit sit.
The first game showed a small slice. The sequel names southern outskirts, another village, another tavern, and another forest, and it promises less grinding than the original.
The free demo opened about 3-4 hours before launch, visited The Town, included cemetery work, and promised a save that carries into 1.0 on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch 2.
1.0 is live. The post repeats rebuild, fortify, defend, automate, and keep the graveyard looking good. Demo saves carry over. The inquisitor's job is not done.
A same-day hotfix restored pre-order bonus content that failed to appear in some existing saves. Check the sauna and inquisitor outfit if you pre-ordered and then continued a live save.
Steam news on 22 September 2026 posted Hotfix - Pre-order bonus content. It fixed an issue that, in some cases, prevented pre-order content from appearing in existing save files. Check the sauna and inquisitor outfit if you pre-ordered and continued a live save.
Where should I start the official diaries?
Start at the 9 April announcement, then zombies (20 May), Town (16 June), visuals (30 July), the 22 September date lock, story (2 September), demo (14 September), combat (18 September), out-now, and the hotfix. That dated order is the full developer spine.
